About Us

Fashodo Foundation for Peace and Development (FFPD) is a unified entity of the Collo people in Canada, and works with other Collo communities in other countries and in South Sudan. The FFPD was federally incorporated on May 01, 2012, under corporation number 8129681.
The members of FFPD are Canadians living in ten provinces of Canada. Most of the members are found in Alberta follow by Ontario, Manitoba, and British Columbia. They originally came from Collo people in South Sudan which is subclan of Luo speaking peoples found in Kenya where the former US president Barack Obama stemmed from. Luo people are also found in Tanzania, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Chad, Central African Republic, Congo, and Rwanda.
The members of Fashodo Foundation for Peace and Development prioritise rebuilding social cohesion to create inclusive and equitable society for every person to fully participate in cultural, political, social, and economic activities.
In 2010, the members of Collo community in Canada met on various occasion over teleconferences to discuss systemic racism, racial harassment, inequal access to services and opportunities that have negative impacts on its members and to address the lack of a community association or over all social body for the Collo community living in different Canadian provinces. The members agreed to establish FFPD as community-based organization with its branch in every province in Canada where its members live.                  
In 2015, the FFPD transformed to the level of chiefdoms by embracing traditional and modern leadership. The goal of this transformation is to maintain and provide clear line of authority and efficient delivery of tasks, services and to promote culture of inclusivity, collaboration, innovation, empowerment, and creativity. His majesty, Reth (king) Dak Padiet had granted royal assent approving FFPD’s transformation.
The members of FFPD are held together by shared ethnicity, language, culture, monarchy, land and tradition and joined self-interest for the welfare of the Collo people in Diasporas and back home. The head of the FFPD is his majesty Reth (king). King governs his/her people through the chiefs of sixteen-Collo chiefdoms.
